Samhain Celebration

A UNIQUELY THEMED MASQUERADE PARTY held within the historic Hawthorne Hotel! Travel 300 years and thousands of miles into the past to experience Halloween as it was celebrated by the Celts since early 9th century. Samhain (pronounced “Sow-win”, meaning “summer’s end”) marked the transition into fall. With the harvesting of crops and preparing, of animals for food, Samhain became a ritual of feasts, bonfires and sacrifices! Also much imbibing of drink, playing of pranks, and welcoming the transition into winter – when the veil between the living and the dead was most thin!

Irish mythology boasts of faeries; horned gods, and witches! In this timeline, witches are revered, respected and wise. Our WOH! – Witch of Honor – Salem’s own BORAH! will be amongst a crew of clever crones who will delight, dance and direct you to the interactive stations around the party! Try your teeth at Snap Apple or powder your nose playing Floury Grape! Present an offering of dedication upon our Altar for the Departed! Seek thee fortune with our resident Tarot Reader! Or TRICK OR TREAT with your fellow guests for collectible stickers under the watchful eye of the PUMPKIN KING!

Later, as the party transitions into the present, enjoy live music and bask amongst the flavors of vintage Halloween as you dance to modern tunes provided by DJ Tilt! And YES, your favorite actors from the feature film “Hocus Pocus” will be partying with you all night! Omri Katz, Vinessa Shaw, Jason Marsden, with Larry Bagby and Tobias Jelinek, welcome you to join them for… SAMHAIN CELEBRATION!
