Salem starts here: Founded in 1799, the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) is the country’s oldest continuously operating museum and holds Salem’s only collection of authentic objects from the witch trials.
Halloween 2026 is the 100th anniversary of the death of magician Harry Houdini. See a pair of handcuffs that Houdini spotted on his own visit to the museum in 1906, and join us on October 31 for a Houdini-themed magic show and curator talk.
