Founded in 1799 and located in the heart of downtown Salem, the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) holds Salem’s only collection of authentic objects from the infamous witch trials. Explore the exhibitions “The Salem Witch Trials 1692” and “Conjuring the Spirit World: Art, Magic, and Mediums” or visit the iconic Ropes Mansion, made famous as Allison’s house in “Hocus Pocus.” Check out ongoing exhibitions of maritime art, fashion and design and local history and tour Yin Yu Tang, a 200-year-old house transported from China.
